Lor Mee

Lor Mee

Lor Mee or loosely translated from the Chinese Hokkien dialect to English as ‘noodles with gravy’.

This is a popular dish among Penangites particularly among Chinese. It’s commonly available at most of the hawker stalls around Penang. ‘Lor’ in the Hokkien dialect means gravy. Therefore, the most important ingredient in this dish is the ‘lor’ itself.

Lor Mee is normally consist of yellow noodles, some white vermicelli, some slices of chicken meat, eggs and mushrooms. Most of the stalls around Penang also offer to put roasted chicken legs as well as finely chopped & seasoned garlics to the ‘lor mee’ as additional ingredients. Personally, I would recommend to order lor mee served with roasted chicken legs if those are available at the stall.

Somehow, the taste of the roasted chicken legs goes very well with the ‘lor’ and it really taste great. The garlics, at the same time will further enhance the taste of the lor mee.
